Best lineup strategy for Giants vs. Patriots in Week 6 TNF Showdown

As an actual game, Giants vs. Patriots on Thursday Night Football should be hideous. But for DFS purposes, there are some interesting pathways to the big Showdown prize.

Let’s face it: This is not going to be pretty. It’s almost inhumane. But, the Showdown must go on. Even in one of the most lopsided mismatches in history, there are points to be scored and contests to be won. Let’s look at some players to target in DraftKings’ $1.6 million six-man Showdown slate -- with an entry fee of $10 and a first-place prize of $400,000 -- and who to use in the critical Captain slot.

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots ($17,700)

We all know what’s going to happen here. The Patriots do not take pity. Never have, never will with the Hoodied One on the sidelines. The offense has not been super awesome this season, and there may never be a better time to shake off the rust, cobwebs and other damaging particles than against the Giants pass defense. You can play him naked or stack every skill player you can fit under the cap, but this is the best smash spot the GOAT is going to have all season.

Patriots D ($9,300)

Will the Giants score? Definitely an open question. Will there be sacks and turnovers? Gotta figure a little of both. The Pats defense might be the easiest, cheapest path to 20-25 DK points in the Captain’s chair, opening the door to cram in all the offensive skill people your heart desires.

CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS

Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants ($12,000)

You want low-owned YOLO plays? Load up on G-Men. You will never find a better contrarian stack in your life than some form of Jones, Jon Hillman and Darius Slayton. Obviously, the Giants will be playing from behind at some point, probably sooner rather than later. Maybe the Patriots take the foot off the gas late in the game. Production at low ownership could be had.

FLEX MEN

Cody Latimer, WR, New York Giants ($800)

I fully expect the Patriots to shadow Golden Tate, the only legit weapon on the Giants’ side of the ball, with Stephon Gilmore. Tate will be a non-factor. But guys like Slayton and Latimer will have chances to make plays. Slayton is priced like an actual player a $6,000, but Latimer and near-minimum allows for a full Patriots stack. Cody Core at $200 is another possibility here.
