The New York Giants and New England Patriots square off on Thursday Night Football to open up Week 6, and it’s hard to see this being competitive. The “any given Sunday” cliche always applies, but the Giants are in a tough spot heading into this with numerous injuries.
The Giants are dealing with a host of injuries and will be short-handed on offense. On Wednesday, they ruled out tight end Evan Engram, wide receiver Sterling Shepard, and running backs Saquon Barkley and Wayne Gallman. Other than Golden Tate and Darius Slayton, Daniel Jones will be struggling to find decent options.
The upside to all these injuries is they are settled heading into the first game of the week. You have plenty of time to sort out your fantasy football lineups, and won’t be waiting until Sunday evening for a last minute inactive question.
There are plenty of start/sit decisions on the Patriots side, but not so much on the Giants. If you’re starting Daniel Jones, Golden Tate, or Jon Hilliman, your season might already be heading towards elimination before the playoffs. But, maybe you’re hanging around and just need to get lucky this week.
Matchups are key, but it helps to see what the analytics are saying about potential performances. Looking at ESPN fantasy projections for season-long leagues (1/2 PPR setting), they’re not prepared to declare Jon Hilliman or Elijhaa Penny the clear starter. My guess is Hilliman gets the first opportunity, but I don’t think any of us can say that with confidence.
Regardless, here are Week 6 TNF projections to help you further improve your fantasy chances!
