Editor’s update: Adams has missed two straight practices and is not optimistic about his chances of playing on Monday vs. the Lions.
The Green Bay Packers might be without wide receiver Davante Adams when they host the Detroit Lions on Week 6 Monday Night Football. Adams is dealing with a turf toe injury that sidelined him for Week 5, and he was not optimistic about playing, according to Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky. Adams said, “It doesn’t feel how I want it to feel at the moment,” and the Packers don’t want to risk a long-term injury.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison got the start for the Packers in Week 5. They combined on three receptions for 46 yards, and were in the shadow of running back Aaron Jones. Jones rushed for 107 yards and four touchdowns, and led the team with seven receptions for 75 yards.
Fantasy football analysis, Packers WR Davante Adams
The Packers return to practice Thursday afternoon in preparation for Monday’s game. Adams’ quotation suggests it’s likely he won’t play, and given the last game nature of this, you’ll need to make your decision early on about the wide receiver or flex position he occupies. If he is even a game-time decision, these comments indicate maybe sitting him regardless.
The Lions have given up the 13th fewest fantasy points this season. MVS is the better of the two starts, but last week raises questions about how the offense might look without Adams. They’re not great starts, but in a week with four teams on bye, there’s some value.
