The New England Patriots came into Week 6 as a huge favorite over the New York Giants, with the point spread climbing as high as 17 points. Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones and the Giants gave the Patriots a lot more than they expected for the first three quarters, but the wheels fell off as the game wrapped up. Strong defense and QB sneak expert Tom Brady guided the Patriots to a 35-14 win.
The Patriots remain undefeated at 6-0, and improve to 4-2 against the spread. The Giants drop to 2-4 straight up and against the spread. The Patriots get an extra day of rest in Week 7, as they travel to face the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. The Giants host the Arizona Cardinals.
Fantasy football analysis
This was an ugly game for fantasy football owners. Giants wide receiver Golden Tate was a notable standout on offense, catching six passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. He was slow out of the gate last week following his suspension, so this is a solid bounce-back effort. With Sterling Shepard potentially sidelined multiple games, Tate has some intriguing fantasy value.
Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was questionable coming into the game with a chest injury, but had another standout performance. He caught nine passes for 113 yards, and just missed the end zone on his last catch. Running back James White offered a strong PPR performance as well, with nine receptions of his own for 46 yards.
Tom Brady had a shaky passing performance without a passing touchdown, but he managed a pair of rushing touchdowns on end zone sneaks. That more than made up for his one interception.
The big performer was the Patriots defense/special teams unit. They had three interceptions, a fumble recovery, a sack, a blocked punt, and most importantly, two defensive scores. In my league they scored 27 points!
