Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins game status 11:30 a.m.
Tyreek Hill is ACTIVE, while Sammy Watkins is INACTIVE. Start Hill where you can. Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, and Byron Pringle are all intriguing flex options, but if you have Hill, you play him.
Tyreek Hill injury status update 10:37 a.m.
Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill went through pre-game warmups and they went well. Adam Schefter is reporting Hill will play against the Texans. It’s a huge matchup for him and he slides up the list of strong fantasy football options at wide receiver. The bigger question is what this means for the fantasy prospects of Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, and Byron Pringle. We’ll have a better idea once Chiefs-Texans gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
Editor’s update 9:11 a.m.: Adam Schefter had an interesting tweet on Hill’s situation. He said there’s a “serious chance” Hill plays, but he also noted that the Chiefs are not certain yet and could factor in the short week coming up for them. They travel to face Denver on Thursday Night Football. Given the short turnaround, they might decide it makes sense for them to wait a week.
Editor’s update: Tyreek Hill is expected to play on Sunday, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. The Chiefs receiver was reportedly cleared from his clavicle injury late this week and is “trending towards playing.” Rapoport tweeted that Hill dealt with soreness this week, so he’ll go through a pregame workout to make sure he’s good to go.
When the Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans this week, there could be a lot of points scored when it’s all said and done. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, two of their most essential offensive skill players are question marks ahead of Sunday’s game.
Wide receiver Sammy Watkins did not practice all week. He left last week’s loss to the Colts with a clavicle injury. Now, he’s officially listed as doubtful, so things are not looking good for him.
Tyreek Hill hasn’t played since breaking his clavicle in the season opener, but he has a real shot at getting back in the lineup this week. The wide receiver will ultimately be a game-time decision.
The Chiefs offense didn’t do much last week against the Colts, being held under 15 points for the first time since 2017. That’s a rarity in the Patrick Mahomes era, but the Texans pass defense hasn’t been as effective as the Colts. Expect a rebound in the offensive department, especially if Hill can play.
Fantasy football analysis, Kansas City Chiefs WRs Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins
Though nothing’s official yet, you can probably count Watkins out this week. As for Hill, there shouldn’t be anything wrong with his deep speed. For him, it’s all about how comfortable the team and doctors are with his ability to absorb contact with his mended shoulder.
This game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET, so you’ll have a window to make a decision once the active/inactive list is announced 90 minutes before that. Hill could be limited if he does suit up, but, come on, all it takes is one touch for Hill to make a difference. He’s one of the higher-priced receivers in DK leagues this week ($6,900), so there’s a little bit of risk there without having anything definitive on his status.
