Todd Gurley returns to practice for Week 7

Rams running back Todd Gurley is dealing with a quad injury, but is on track to return to practice in Week 7. We break down the fantasy implications.

Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley suffered a quadricep injury in Week 5, and after missing Week 6, he is set to return to the practice field on Wednesday for Week 7. Head coach Sean McVay told the media Gurley will practice, but it will be individual work, according to NFL Network reporter Omar Ruiz.

This information likely means he will be listed as limited on the Wednesday report. Gurley was a DNP all last week, so this is an upgrade for him. Malcolm Brown started in his place in against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 and rushed 11 times for 40 yards. Darrell Henderson rushed six times for 39 yards and caught a nine-yard pass.

Fantasy football analysis, Rams RB Todd Gurley, Malcolm Brown

The Rams face a Falcons team in Week 7 that is primarily atrocious against the pass. They’re not great against the run, but opposing offenses are shredding their pass defense. The Rams will push on their run game, but I could see this being a more pass-heavy game plan for Jared Goff.

The Rams starting running back will be a quality RB2 start in this game, whether it be Gurley or Brown. Henderson will get some work as well, but he likely remains second to Brown, or third to a potentially returning Gurley and thus has limited fantasy value for the time being.
