What to do with Patrick Mahomes in Week 7 fantasy football

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has seen his numbers come down compared to last year. Of course, he’s still a top five option and must start in all traditional fantasy football leagues. We break it down.

The Kansas City Chiefs travel to face the Denver Broncos in Week 7, losing to snap their two-game losing streak. The Chiefs have lost consecutive home games to the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans, so maybe a road trip on a short week Thursday Night Football contest can help them got on track.

Patrick Mahomes will also look to get back on track to a certain extent. He’s putting up impressive numbers for most quarterbacks, but they’re down to some degree compared to his recent past. He threw for three touchdowns last week, but only completed 54.3 percent of his passes. He completed 71.9 percent of his passes the first three weeks of the season, but is only completing 56 percent of his passes over the past three weeks.

Fantasy football analysis, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes remains a must start in fantasy football, but expectations are a little bit lower compared to a year ago. He still has never fallen below 18.5 fantasy points in game, so the change is from the absolute best to a top five quarterback. If you over-drafted Mahomes you might be a little annoyed, but if you know you’re going to get at least 18 points from your quarterback every week, you’d be pretty happy with it.

Mahomes suffered an ankle injury in Week 5 against the Colts. He acknowledged the injury, but has said he can work through it. That is the one thing to keep in mind, but he’s practicing and playing, so you start him.
