Injuries and poor play have taken what was expected to be a very promising Chargers season, and put it on the brink of playoff elimination. Sure, nobody is truly out of the playoffs in Week 7, but at 2-4 and coming off of a loss to the Steelers’ third-string quarterback, things are looking pretty bleak. The Chargers actually have a (barely) positive point-differential this year, but a lot of that stems from a 20 point victory over the tanking Dolphins. They are average offensively, ranking 15th in Football Outsiders offensive DVOA, but have struggled mightily on defense without star play-maker Derwin James. The group ranks 27th in DVOA, struggling against both the run and pass.

The Titans made a massive change this week for the franchise, deciding to bench former number-two overall pick Marcus Mariota in favor of free-agency addition Ryan Tannehill. Tennesee has scored just seven points in their past two games, and have overall struggled offensively this season, ranking 29th in DVOA. In his Week 6 appearance, Tannehill averaged nine yards per attempt, and completed 13 of his 16 passes. There could be real improvement on the horizon for this club. The Titans have a top-10 defense by DVOA, and can still be a playoff team if their offense can catch up. Hopefully they have not waited too long to make this switch, as they sit at 2-4.
