Editor’s update: Gallup returned to practice and made even more progress than expected. The plan was for Gallup to do individual drills for the day. Instead, he got involved in some team drills as well, according to Cowboys reporter Michael Gehlken. Gallup is expected to play on Sunday against the Packers, barring a setback on Thursday or Friday, according to Gehlken.
The Dallas Cowboys return to practice on Wednesday to get ready for a Week 5 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, and they expect a playmaker back. Wide receiver Michael Gallup, sidelined since a Week 2 knee injury, is expected to join the team, according to Cowboys reporter Michael Gehlken. Head coach Jason Garrett told assembled media that he likely would be limited, but would be out there.
Earlier this week, owner and GM Jerry Jones said that he would not rule out Gallup playing in Week 5. He said it would depend on how he does at practice. His first test comes Wednesday.
Fantasy football analysis of Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup
Gallup was the Cowboys dominant playmaker in the passing game through the first two weeks of the season. He had 13 catches for 226 yards in that time, and while he had not yet found the end zone, his 17.4 yards per reception is top 15 in the league at the quarter point of the season.
Gallup will likely show up as limited all three days. If that happens, it stands to reason he will be listed as questionable and a game-time decision. Playing or sitting would not surprise me at this point, so we’re left to wait and see what the next two days of practice bring.
