The Arizona Cardinals are not expecting to have wide receiver Christian Kirk available for Week 5 vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told the assembled media Kirk would practice in limited fashion, but is was “not likely” he would play on Sunday, according to Cardinals reporter Josh Wienfuss. Kirk sprained his ankle in Week 4, but Kingsbury would not specify if it was a low or high ankle injury. The latter requires a month or more of recovery time.
Kingsbury wouldn’t specify whether Kirk has a low or high ankle injury. Kirk will be limited today in practice, Kingsbury said. Kingsbury felt Kirk was fortunate that his injury wasn’t worse because of how it looked on film.
Fantasy football analysis of Cardinals WR Christian Kirk
Larry Fitzgerald leads the Cardinals in receiving yards, but Kirk has matched him in targets and has one more reception. Kirk has been a strong presence in PPR leagues, while Fitzgerald has been a safer option in both PPR and standard leagues. This comes at a particularly inopportune time because they face an atrocious Bengals team in Week 5.
If Kirk practices but does not play on Sunday, we’ll have to wait until next Wednesday’s practice report to see if he is making progress toward a return.
