It’s a tough week for the New Orleans Saints. Already without quarterback Drew Brees for the foreseeable future, the team will travel to Chicago without the services of running back Alvin Kamara and tight end Jared Cook. Let’s look at how Cook’s absence impacts your fantasy football decisions.
Cook has scored touchdowns in each of the Saints’ past two games, along with 78 receiving yards and seven catches. So even though he’s not putting up killer receiving numbers, the guy has at least established a decent floor for himself.
It’s a bum ankle that will send him to the sidelines this week, but at least it does not appear to be a long-term concern. That’s good news for next week, when the Saints get a juicy matchup against the Cardinals.
Fantasy football analysis, New Orleans Saints TE Jared Cook
Without Cook and Kamara in the lineup this week, the Saints and backup QB Teddy Bridgewater will be even more reliant on wide receiver Michael Thomas. Running back Latavius Murray will benefit from their absence as well, and is definitely worth some consideration. Tight end Josh Hill has been a distant No. 2 behind Cook, and while he could see more work this week, he’s probably too much of an unknown to stake your hopes on.
