The NFL heads into the halfway point of the 2019 NFL season as Week 8 arrives. We cut back to two teams on bye this week, but they are two significant ones. The Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys will sit out this week, and that means some of the biggest names in daily fantasy football will be sidelined.
We’ll be without quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott, running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Mark Ingram, tight end Mark Andrews, and wide receiver Amari Cooper. Marquise Brown has been dealing with an ankle injury, so the bye comes at a good time for him to get healthy.
If you avoid the big names for deeper value in daily fantasy football, you get a chance to bring the competition down to your level to some degree. The quarterback position in particular will be an interesting decision in Week 8. We’ve got a big injury with Matt Ryan potentially sidelined due to a sprained ankle, and Drew Brees might return to practice. Running back Kerryon Johnson could miss some time with a knee injury, and wide receiver Will Fuller miss a few weeks with a hamstring injury.
There are a couple notable injuries that will impact Showdown contests. Adam Thielen is not expected to play on Thursday Night Football, and Patrick Mahomes will not play on Sunday Night Football due to his dislocated knee cap.
The week will feature plenty more news, injury and otherwise, and we’ll be tracking it all here. Feel free to bookmark this story stream and return for the latest daily fantasy football news and analysis.
