The Tennessee Titans announced on Friday that tight end Delanie Walker is officially out for Week 8 vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Walker has been dealing with an ankle injury the past two weeks and only played five snaps last week. Jonnu Smith will get the start in place of Walker on Sunday. He replaced Walker last week and had three receptions for 64 yards.
Fantasy football waiver wire options, Week 8 TEs
The Walker news is not surprising, but you still might be scrambling given the dearth of quality options at tight end. Walker got off to a solid start the first three weeks of season, but things have gone south since, with five receptions for 57 yards over the past three games.
If you are looking for a tight end to replace Walker, Smith is the first one to come to mind. He’s an athletic freak who has not been able to break out thus far. He faces a Bucs defense that is pretty brutal against tight ends. Some other options available in at least 50 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues include Josh Hill (vs. horrific Cardinals defense), Chris Herndon (debuting and looking to build on strong rookie season), and Dallas Goedert (out-produced Zach Ertz last week).
