What to do with Chase Edmonds and David Johnson in Week 8 fantasy football

One Arizona running back clearly stands above the other this week.

There aren’t too many weeks of the season where you can be soundly advised to avoid David Johnson, but this is definitely one of those weeks.

The Arizona Cardinals main running back is officially a game-time decision. He is still dealing with the same ankle injury that plagued him last week. If you recall, Johnson carried the same game-time status heading into the team’s Week 7 matchup against the Giants. He started, but didn’t last more than a series.

Chase Edmonds took over for Johnson last week and absolutely destroyed Big Blue. Edmonds rans for 126 yards on 27 carries. Best of all for fantasy owners who smartly faded Johnson, Edmonds scored three touchdowns in that game.

Fantasy football advice, Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson and Chase Edmonds

You can’t trust the game-time decision for Johnson this week. Even if he does play, he may be limited. And the Cardinals have no need to rush him back into action with Edmonds playing so well.

The Cardinals have a tougher matchup this week against the Saints, which is definitely something to consider, i.e. don’t expect similar production from Edmonds this week. However, the team clearly has reason to believe him and let Johnson rest, so he should be a solid start, despite the matchup.

Sit/start recommendation

Start Edmonds, and sit Johnson
