The Buffalo Bills host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8, and the weather is going to have an impact on this one. It’s currently raining and there will be fairly significant winds at New Era Field throughout the game.
We saw how bad rain can impact things last week in the 49ers-Washington game. Of course, that rain was on a crazy level and the field at FedEx can be a disaster even without the rain. In some ways it makes that experience an outlier.
The bigger issue in this one will be the wind. Winds are expected to be in 25-30 mph range starting at 1:00 p.m. kickoff. Accuracy will be an issue for the quarterbacks, and considering there are stretches where Josh Allen cannot hit the broad side of a barn with a pass, he will be one to watch. From a fantasy perspective, you still get the rushing yards from him. But this could turn into more of a Frank Gore, Devin Singletary game than a Josh Allen game.
The other big concern will be in the point total if you are the gambling sort. The DraftKings Sportsbook point total is sitting at 40.5. In good weather, it would be a decent amount higher given the Eagles defensive issues. The Bills beat Miami 31-21 last week, but they’ve otherwise regularly been in the high 30s and low 40s in total points. Their point totals this season are 33, 42, 38, 26, 21, and 52. If the wind keeps up, it would not be surprising to see this game go under the point total.
