Week 9 brings football back along with another week with four teams on a bye. Taylor Rapp, the safety for the Los Angeles Rams who replaced the injured John Johnson III, has produced very nicely recording 12 combined tackles last week and six back in Week 7. The Atlanta Falcons remain one of the worst defenses in the league with opposing offenses scoring on 52.5% of their drives creating a lot IDP opportunities for both them and their opponents, too bad they’ll be on a bye. Hitting the waiver wire will be important with the aforementioned Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams on their required rest week. Here are your priority IDP adds for this week.
Adam Butler, DT, New England Patriots
The Patriots defense has been incredible this season allowing 7.6 points per game and allow a league low 15.6% of third downs to be converted against them this season. Their defense ranks first in scoring and this is in large part due to their defensive line and blitz packages getting pressure on opposing offenses. Adam Butler has recorded four sacks in the last two games on only an average of 45% of snaps, but this number has increased over the last three weeks. Butler and the Patriots will get a plus matchup against the run-heavy Baltimore Ravens offense who rank 10th in fantasy points given up to the defensive tackle position.
Notables: Olivier Vernon, DE, Cleveland Browns
Damien Wilson, LB, Kansas City Chiefs
Damien Wilson’s playing time has increased over the last two weeks hitting 83% of snaps this past Sunday to lead all KC linebackers against Green Bay. Wilson hasn’t gotten us a ton of production only grabbing nine combined tackles and one sack over the last two games, but gets the Minnesota Vikings who just gave up 20 total tackles to the Washington LBs last week. The Chiefs have taken down opposing QBs 11 times over the last two weeks, hopefully Wilson can add to their total.
Roderic Teamer, S, Los Angeles Chargers
Teamer hasn’t missed a play all season registering 100% of the defensive snaps in the Chargers’ secondary. He’s recorded 14 solo tackles, a sack and an interception over his last two games and should be a decent bye-week filler if you have someone like Jessie Bates III on a bye. Teamer has now finished as DB7 in Week 7 and DB1 this past Sunday.
