The New England Patriots made a change at kicker heading into Week 9, and it’s a familiar name. The Patriots released Mike Nugent on Tuesday and announced the signing of Nick Folk on Wednesday. This all comes after the team had to place Stephen Gostkowski on injured reserve earlier this season.

Folk spent part of this year playing for the Arizona Hotshots in the Alliance of Alliance of American Football. Prior to that he last played in the NFL in 2017 with the Buccaneers. In four games he converted 6-of-11 field-goal attempts and 7-of-9 extra point attempts.

Folk hasn’t been a great kicker in a while, but the Patriots kicker is worth rostering most weeks. This week they face the Baltimore Ravens, who have given up the seventh most points to kickers. The Ravens improved their defense with the addition of Marcus Peters, but even if they slow the Patriots offense, it opens the door for field goal attempts. Folk is a solid addition off your fantasy football waiver wire in Week 9.
