The Kansas City Chiefs returned to practice to get ready for Week 9 and Patrick Mahomes was once again a limited participant in practice. Mahomes was limited last week in his first work since returning from a dislocated knee cap, but head coach Andy Reid said Mahomes would a “a little bit more” in practice this week, according to beat writer Vahe Gregorian.

Mahomes dislocated his knee cap in Week 7, but his return was been fairly speedy. Matt Moore started in Week 8 and threw for 267 yards with two touchdowns. He is likely to start again in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings. Mahomes could be back the week after for a road game against the Tennessee Titans, or the following week for Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs have a bye after that in Week 12.

Fantasy football analysis: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes should be back in the next two or three weeks, but it is still a question of just how effective he will be. If you remove his injury-shortened game, Mahomes would be third in fantasy points per game thus far. When he returns you should slot him back in your lineup, but expectations should be lowered at least a little bit while we see what he looks like.
