Chase Edmonds adds to handcuff value with strong Week 5 performance

The Cardinals got their first win, and backup running back Chase Edmonds had some key plays. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Arizona Cardinals secured their first win under rookie head coach Kliff Kingsbury and quarterback Kyler Murray, kicking a last second field goal to get the 26-23 win. They blew a 23-9 lead, but Kyler Murray led the Cardinals down the field for the game-winning field goal

Murray and starting running back David Johnson each had solid games, but Chase Edmonds also deserves some credit for the victory. Edmonds has seven rushes for 64 yards and a touchdown, to go along with 18 yards receiving. Johnson owners can’t be too excited about losing the touchdown opportunity.

Johnson is not going anywhere as the Cardinals starter unless he gets hurt. He finished the game with 91 rushing yards and 65 receiving yards, so he’s not a guy who will be going away. Edmonds is a key handcuff if you own Johnson, but if you don’t have DJ, Edmonds is worth a stash. He could be an intriguing flex option in a particularly rough bye week, and he’s a decent enough lottery ticket beyond that.
