David Johnson injury update
The Cardinals wrapped up their first practice of the week Wednesday late afternoon, and David Johnson did not participate. He is dealing with a back injury and head coach Kliff Kingsbury said earlier in the week that he would not rule out that Johnson could miss Sunday’s game against the Falcons. If he is unable to play, Chase Edmonds would get the start and be a very solid fantasy option. If Johnson is able to play, he remains a must-start — even at less than 100 percent.
The Arizona Cardinals host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6, and they have some questions with one of their most important offensive skill position players. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced earlier this week that running back David Johnson is dealing with a back injury. Klingsbury would not rule out that Johnson could miss Sunday’s game, according to Cardinals beat writer Darren Urban.
The Cardinals return to practice Wednesday afternoon, and will release their first practice participation report following the session. Johnson had 91 rushing yards and 65 receiving yards in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals. His backup, Chase Edmonds, had 86 total yards and a rushing touchdown.
Fantasy football analysis, Cardinals RBs David Johnson, Chase Edmonds
Johnson’s status is a huge deal for the Cardinals and for fantasy football owners. He’s a must-start every week, and his potential absence gives Edmonds a huge boost in fantasy value. Edmonds is only owned in two percent of ESPN leagues, so he will be a key add if you have a chance.
If Johnson is active on Sunday, he’s a must start against a bad Falcons defense. If Johnson is inactive, Edmonds is a must-start, and has considerable DFS value as well. Johnson is currently $7,600 at DraftKings, while Edmonds is a mere $4,600. Edmonds would be an extremely popular play in Week 6 if he starts.
