What to do with Emmanuel Sanders, Deebo Samuel in Week 10 fantasy football

The 49ers passing game is coming off its biggest game of the 2019 season. We break down fantasy football start/sit considerations for Week 10.

The San Francisco 49ers have been working to overhaul their wide receiver corps, and 2019 has brought a pair of interesting names. The 49ers spent their second round pick on Deebo Samuel, and just prior to the trade deadline in October, they sent third and fourth round picks to the Denver Broncos for Emmanuel Sanders and a fifth round pick.

Sanders has been an instant impact player for the 49ers. In two games he’s caught 11 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown in each game. He’s not a pure No. 1, but he has stepped up as Jimmy Garoppolo’s No. 1 wide receiver.

Samuel has been hit-or-miss as the 49ers use him in a variety of ways. He gets semi-regular targets in the passing game and then gets mixed in as a gadget runner on occasion. Last week against the Arizona Cardinals, he had a season high seven targets, finishing with four receptions for 40 yards.

Fantasy football analysis: San Francisco 49ers WRs Emmanuel Sanders, Deebo Samuel

The Seahawks have given up the 15th most fantasy points to wide receivers, so they’re right in the middle of the pack. However, the past two weeks they’ve given up big games to receivers. Last week, Mike Evans had 12 catches for 180 yards and a touchdown and Chris Godwin had seven receptions for 61 yards. The week before, Julio Jones had ten receptions for 162 yards.

Samuel is not getting enough consistent touches to justify starting him in fantasy this season. He’s got great long-term value, but he’s not worth playing in re-draft leagues. As for Sanders, he’s in short-term must start territory. George Kittle is a question mark with knee and ankle issues, and considering how much Garoppolo has looked Sanders way already, the receiver’s value could grow even further.
