What to do with Jacob Hollister in Week 10 fantasy football

Seattle Seahawks’ tight end Jacob Hollister put on a monster game in Week 9 by scoring two touchdowns on just four receptions. We take a look at his chances of repeating such a performance on Monday Night Football against San Francisco.

Back in April the Seattle Seahawks traded a seventh-round pick to New England for under-used TE Jacob Hollister, proceeded to put him in their practice squad, and activated him in early October this season after their no. 1 tight end Will Dissly injured himself and was done for the season. He had quite a game last weekend against Tampa Bay when he finished the day with two touchdowns on just four receptions for 37 yards. He awarded his owners and risk-takers with 19.7 fantasy points, which given the state of the TE position, was more than a bounty.

Other than that? Nothing. Hollister has played four games already, but in his first three he had zero, three, and two receptions for zero, 20, and 18 yards without a touchdown. He exploded against the Bucs in the most-favorable scenario ever—Tampa Bay ranks second-worst in fantasy points per game allowed to TEs this season—so you can temper your expectations going forward and consider Hollister a one-hit wonder.

Fantasy Football Analysis, Seattle Seahawks TE Jacob Hollister

I don’t see Hollister repeating his Week 9 performance any time soon, much less on Monday Night Football against a stout Niners defense. I don’t think they need an introduction at this point, but San Francisco’s defense ranks first against TEs and has allowed just one score to the position through Week 9. The 49ers haven’t surrendered more than 40 receiving yards to any tight end and currently are on a three-game streak in which they have limited the position to just two receptions and 18 or fewer yards each time.

Hollister had his day against Tampa Bay, and that was it. He could have another couple of 10-points games in him along the way, but definitely not this weekend. You can straight skip him and leave him in the waiver wire at least for another week—if not for the rest of the season.
