How to handle David Johnson in Week 10 fantasy football

David Johnson returns to action this week, but what about Kenyan Drake?

Week 7 feels like a long time ago, and in terms of fantasy football, it kind of is. That was the last time that Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson saw game action, and in the space since that time, his team went out and added another running back, Kenyan Drake, who is not too bad of a player himself. So now what should you do that Johnson is back in action?

An ankle injury that flared up in Johnson’s last outing has kept him on the sideline since. But this week, after he guaranteed that he would be playing, the Cardinals did not have to list him on the Friday injury report, officially clearing the way for his return.

The team had a suitable backup in Chase Edmonds, but he’s been out dealing with a hamstring injury. The team acquired Drake for a song from the Dolphins at the trade deadline, and he did not disappoint in his debut with the team, rushing for 110 yards and a touchdown last week.

But now that sets up the tricky question of which one to play this week.

As long as Johnson’s healthy, he’s going to get the bulk of the work for the Cardinals. And he really has the chance to have a big game as a receiver against a Bucs team that struggles to stop running backs in the passing game.

Drake will still get his work too. He’s an explosive back who is known for rattling off big plays from time to time. Like Johnson, he adds value as a receiver.

Johnson has an edge this week as a little more of a sure thing, but Drake can be a nice addition to lineups too.
