UPDATE: Hooper is getting an MRI on Monday and is expected to miss some time.
The Atlanta Falcons got a huge morale-boosting win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 10, but it came at a cost. Tight end Austin Hooper departed the game with a knee injury in the fourth quarter and did not return after visiting the medical tent and then the locker room.
Falcons head coach Dan Quinn has not offered an update yet, but we will likely hear more later Monday morning. The Falcons don’t return to practice until Wednesday, so we might not get a firm handle on things until we see their practice participation reports.
Fantasy football analysis: Tight end waiver options
Luke Stocker is the team’s backup tight end, and Jaeden Graham is the third option. They would each move up a spot if Hooper missed any game action, but neither holds any fantasy value even as the starter.
If you end up needing a tight end, there are a few intriguing options on the waiver wire. Titans tight end Jonnu Smith is available in 87 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues. If he remains in the lineup over Delanie Walker, he’s got serious upside. Walker is owned in just under half of fantasy leagues, so he’s worth keeping an eye on as well.
