UPDATE: Breida is getting a second opinion on his sprained ankle.

San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida suffered an ankle injury in Week 10 and is questionable to return on Monday Night Football. Prior to the injury, Breida had ten rushes for 18 yards and two receptions for seven yards.

Tevin Coleman is the 49ers starting running back, but we’ve seen considerable balance in the workload. At the time of the injury, Coleman had eight rushes for 36 yards and one catch for five yards.

Raheem Mostert moves into the backup role with Breida sidelined. In his first two rushes he picked up 15 yards and is looking sharp behind Coleman. Ankle injuries have been a problem for Breida over the past two seasons. He has been able to bounce back from the injuries, but they have been nagging and will be something to watch heading into practice week if he does not return tonight.
