CORRECTION
Initial reports had George Kittle set to sit out Week 11. It turns out head coach Kyle Shanahan simply said Kittle would not practice on Wednesday, per Jennifer Chan. However, it turns out he later told Cardinals media Kittle won’t play. So, Kittle won’t play.
If you were counting on George Kittle’s return to action in Week 11, I have bad news. San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced on Wednesday that Kittle is out for Week 11 due to the knee injury he suffered in Week 9.
Ross Dwelley started in Kittle’s place last week and had three receptions for 24 yards. The team activated Garrett Celek last week and he played ten snaps. Levine Toilolo got 12 snaps.
It’s a frustrating development for fantasy football owners given how awful the Cardinals have been in defending tight ends. They’ve been the worst in the league and given up some truly monstrous performances. Kittle took a shot to the knee in the first half of their Week 9 matchup, and will not get a second crack at them.
Fantasy football analysis: 49ers tight ends
Dwelley had his brief chance to make an impact, but now that Celek has one game under his belt back from the PUP list, Dwelley will see an impact on his snap total. None of the three 49ers tight ends is worth rostering while Kittle is out.
