Report: ‘It would be a surprise’ if Adam Thielen plays in Week 11

Vikings WR Adam Thielen might not play again until Week 13. We break down the fantasy football implications.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen sat out the team’s Thursday practice, and seems unlikely to play in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos. Vikings reporter Chris Tomasson reported the news and said it would be a surprise if Thielen played on Sunday.

Thielen injured his hamstring in the first quarter of Week 7 and sat out the short week leading up to Week 8 Thursday Night Football. He returned in Week 9, only to aggravate the hamstring. He sat out the team’s Week 10 matchup and with the team on bye in Week 12, there’s no reason for him to risk further aggravation this week.

Fantasy football analysis: Vikings WRs Adam Thielen, Olabisi Johnson

We likely won’t know until after the bye whether Thielen will play in Week 13. Assuming he does not play this Sunday, the Vikings would not return to practice until at least the Monday after the bye. Their first official practice report that week wouldn’t be due until Wednesday. So, if you have Thielen in fantasy football, it will be a bit before we know his status.

In the meantime, Stefon Diggs will benefit in targets as the team’s No. 1 receiver, while Olabisi Johnson will get that many more snaps and try to eat into Diggs’ target total. Another “winner” in this would be tight end Kyle Rudolph. He’s found the end zone in three of the past four games and remains a solid gamble as the Vikings red zone threat.
