Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay have both had strong seasons, especially once Matthew Stafford started slinging the ball more after Kerryon Johnson went down with an injury. Sadly, for the duo, Stafford has an injured back and didn’t play last week and won’t play this week against Dallas.
With Jeff Driskel starting last week in a tough matchup in Chicago, Golladay caught 3-of-8 targets for 57 yards and a touchdown while Jones caught 5-of-6 targets for 77 yards sans touchdown. Driskel played well in a tough spot and gave Golladay and Jones fantasy backers some hope that he can continue to play well against the Cowboys.
Fantasy football analysis: Detroit Lions WRs Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones
The Lions get to go home to the dome this week, which is good, but their receivers have a tough matchup against Dallas. Only the Patriots, who’ve allowed just one touchdown to a wide receiver, have better matchup stats than the Cowboys. Dallas has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points, yards, and touchdowns to opposing receivers this season.
Even with Driskel showing enough to have some faith in him, this matchup doesn’t bode well for Golladay and Jones with the inexperienced quarterback throwing them the ball. That doesn’t mean you sit them, as it is likely Driskel will need to throw the ball in a game his team comes in as +6.5 underdogs. We need to temper expectations, but there is still reason to bet on these two receivers’ ability
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Golladay as a boom or bust WR2.
Start Jones as a WR3/Flex option.
