There was some hope earlier in the week that the Detroit Lions might have Matthew Stafford back when they host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon this week. We should have know better though—hope and the Lions usually don’t mix.
Stafford is still recovering from a painful back injury that caused him to miss his first start in 136 games last week. Forced to turn to Jeff Driskel in his stead, the Lions struggled to put up 13 points in a loss to Bears without their regular starting quarterback.
Stafford will be a week-to-week situation going forward, so if you plan to use him again in fantasy football, keep your eye on the news reports out of Detroit.
Fantasy football analysis, Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford
Obviously the Lions are not going to be as productive with Driskel under center than they would be with Stafford. You can definitely find better options at quarterback. Marvin Jones was Driskel’s most reliable receiver last week, catching five of six passes for 77 yards. Driskel targeted Kenny Golladay a team-high total of nine times, including a 47-yard touchdown. Both players could be decent adds this week with the Lions apt to have to throw the ball a lot.
