UPDATE: David Montgomery is ACTIVE.
The Chicago Bears have officially listed running back David Montgomery as questionable for this week’s road trip to take on the Los Angeles Rams. Montgomery is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered in practice earlier in the week.
He did not practice on Thursday. However, he did return to the field in a limited capacity with his team on Friday, so there is at least some reason for optimism about his availability this week.
You knew the Bears were going to make Montgomery their main man in the backfield after trading up in the third round to draft him this year. He’s been a fixture since the second week of the season.
Fantasy football analysis, Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery
The Bears and Rams play the night game on Sunday, so that makes it a little dicey in terms of waiting for the news. It’s a gamble. The Rams run defense has been stingy this season, so yardage could be hard to find.
If Montgomery cannot play, that would most likely make Tarik Cohen the main running back. Cohen has been a presence in the passing game this season, though Chicago’s passing games leaves a lot to be desired. He would add some rushing touches to his workload without Montgomery this week, making him someone to consider in fantasy.
