How to handle Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert’s injuries in Week 11 fantasy football [UPDATE]

The 49ers running back situation is in flux because of injuries this week. Here’s what you need to know.

UPDATE: Matt Breida is inactive.

This is a tough week for the San Francisco 49ers offensive skill position players. Tight end George Kittle is doubtful; wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is hurting; and running backs Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert are dealing with injuries.

Breida is listed as doubtful. He has a sprained ankle, an injury he re-aggravated last week in a rough and tumble matchup with the Seahawks. While he hasn’t been completely ruled out, reports earlier in the week said that he could miss up to two weeks. Sunday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Breida will sit for this game.

The news is better for Mostert. He is officially listed as questionable with a knee injury, but he did practice, in a limited role, all week.

Here’s what you need to know for the Niners backfield.

With Breida expected to miss this week’s game, that thrusts Mostert into the number two role behind Tevin Coleman, who hasn’t been very productive since his four-touchdown outing in Week 8 against the Panthers.

Taking over for Breida last week in that role, Mostert managed 4.7 yards per attempt on six carries. And he could get more work against the Cardinals, making him a decent low-end option if you need help for the flex spot, especially with a DK salary of just $3,400 this week.
