Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has struggled to get on track in 2019. It doesn’t help that he plays for the worst team in the NFL, but regardless, it’s been rough. However, he could finally be getting on track coming down the home stretch of the season.
Mixon rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 11 against the Oakland Raiders, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Add in a 17-yard reception and it was Mixon’s best fantasy football performance in 2019. He also finished with 17.30 DKFP. It helps that he grabbed his first rushing touchdown of the season. Previously, his best performance came in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills, when he had 94 total yards and a receiving touchdown.
In Week 10, Mixon rushed for 114 yards but failed to find the end zone. He’s starting to boost his yardage totals, and if he can find the end zone a little more regularly, he could turn into a late season boost for fantasy owners.
The Bengals host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12. Pittsburgh entered Week 11 giving up the sixth fewest fantasy points to running backs. It represents a step up in competition compared to the Raiders, so it will give us some kind of idea if Mixon is back, or if we’re just seeing some blips on the radar.
