UPDATE: Damien Williams is ACTIVE. LeSean McCoy is also active.
The Kansas City Chiefs had a sizable question mark develop over the weekend when running back Damien Williams had to miss Friday’s practice due to a family issue. He was listed as questionable and there was some concern as to whether or not he would travel with the team to Mexico City for Week 11 Monday Night Football vs. the Los Angeles Chargers.
As of Monday morning, all appears well however. Andy Reid said on Saturday that Williams “should” travel with the team, and on Sunday we learned that he did indeed travel with the team, per Ian Rapoport. Anything could happen in the remaining hours before the game, as we learned with Robert Woods early Sunday evening, but for now, Williams will play.
Fantasy football analysis: Chiefs RBs Damien Williams, LeSean McCoy
If you were counting on Williams for your fantasy roster, it should be safe to take a breath after the weekend’s question. He is coming off his busiest game of the year last week, in which he had a season-high 24 total touches. LeSean McCoy was inactive as a healthy scratch and after Shady’s brief run as the team’s lead back, this would seem to confirm Williams is the guy moving forward.
This matchup is a great one for Williams. The Chargers have given up the eight most fantasy points to running backs, and rank 26th in run defense efficiency. Williams should find some lanes and put together a solid outing in Week 11. Darrel Williams will get some work as well, but Damien is a great fantasy start.
