Week 11 of the NFL is ancient history, and we’re speeding ahead in our time machines to find the best quarterback pickups for Week 12 and on down the wormhole toward the fantasy football playoffs. This week we have four teams on bye and will be without the services of Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray, Philip Rivers, and Kirk Cousins. Three of the four have had good fantasy value this season and could be hard to replace.
We’ll take a look at players who are available in the majority of ESPN fantasy football leagues. There aren’t any high FAAB adds this week, but there’s a chance you’ll need a bye replacement, so make sure you get your guy, as this is the last bye week of the year, and we are knocking on the fantasy playoffs’ door.
Jeff Driskel, QB, Detroit Lions (4 percent)
Driskel played well against a good Dallas defense last week completing 15-of-26 passes for 209 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions and also ran for 51 yards and a touchdown. This week he faces Washington, who just gave up four touchdowns to Sam Darnold. Remaining schedule — @WAS, CHI, @MIN, TB, @DEN
Sam Darnold, QB, New York Jets (12.3 percent)
Sam Darnold hasn’t given us reason to believe he’s turned a corner this year, but his four touchdowns against Washington show that he can exploit an easy matchup. And the good news is that he has three easy matchups coming up. Remaining schedule — OAK, @CIN, MIA, @BAL, PIT
Baker Mayfield, QB, Cleveland Browns (45.3 percent)
Mayfield looked pretty bad against the Steelers last Thursday but did score three touchdowns. The addition of Kareem Hunt has been a nice boost, and Mayfield hasn’t turned the ball over in his previous three games, which has helped him keep a decent fantasy floor. With Miami on the docket, he should have another useful fantasy game in Week 12. Remaining schedule — MIA, @PIT, CIN, @ARI, BAL
Nick Foles, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars (19.7 percent)
Foles started out hot in his first game back but then did very little until a garbage-time touchdown helped him push his fantasy points into the Top 13. He gets a tough matchup at Tennessee next but then back home for a great spot against Tampa Bay. He’s very much a start in that game. Remaining schedule — @TEN, TB, LAC, @OAK, @ATL
Jacoby Brissett, QB, Indianapolis Colts (50 percent)
Brisset wasn’t asked to do much this week as the Colts ran over the Jaguars on the ground. He did manage a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown, but with 264 rushing yards, there weren’t many let for the passing game. This week Brisset heads to Houston to take on the team he recently had his best fantasy game against. He threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns in their Week 7 meeting, and there is similar upside in what should be a close game this week. Remaining schedule — @HOU, TEN, @TB, @NO, CAR
