Washington running back Adrian Peterson didn’t practice on Wednesday with a toe injury but their receiving back, Chris Thompson did, according to beat writer Craig Hoffman. Hoffman also noted that Peterson was “limping pretty good Monday” and said not to be surprised if Peterson “doesn’t play this week.”
Thompson hasn’t played since Week 6 due to a toe injury of his own. His return would help the backfield, but the long layoff doesn’t bode well for significant usage his first game back, whenever that may be.
Washington did get Derrius Guice back last week, and he put up some nice numbers with eight touches for 69-yards and a touchdown. If Peterson can’t play, Guice becomes a strong play against one of the worst defenses against running backs in the league, the Detroit Lions.
