Week 12 is here and one of, if not the most important games of the week will take place in San Francisco, as the Packers head to the bay to take on the 49ers. Both teams lead their division, but their leads are razor-thin.

The Packers come to town fresh off a bye and a win against the Panthers, while securing five victories in their last six games. At 9-2, their two losses have come on the road to the Chargers and at home to the Eagles. The recent loss to the Chargers is a worrisome blemish, but one that doesn’t define their season.

After this 49ers game, their schedule gets easier: @Giants, vs. Washington, vs. Bears, @Vikings, and @LIons. These are all games where the Packers should have the edge with the Vikings, the possible exception. And that schedule shows why they’re -2000 to make the playoffs and -195 to win the division, with neither being worth your time. The real question is, can they win the NFC and then onto the Super Bowl?

The 49ers are in a similar spot to the 49ers. They lead their division, but are only a half-game ahead of Seattle, whereas the Packers are a full game ahead of the Vikings, who they have beaten once this season. The 49ers currently don’t own the tiebreaker between themselves and the Seahawks, as their only loss came to them at Levi’s Stadium in Week 10.

San Francisco also doesn’t have an easy schedule moving forward, as they face @Ravens, @Saints, vs. Falcons, vs. Rams, and @Seahawks again. They’re locks still to make the playoffs, but their chance to win the division is in peril. They are still favored to win the NFC West, though. The Seahawks are their only real competition after watching the Rams offense of late, and their schedule looks like so: @Eagles, vs. Vikings, @Rams, @Panthers, vs. Cardinals, vs. 49ers. That’s in no way an easy schedule, but the 49ers schedule looks a little tougher at the moment. There’s a good chance this division comes down to the final game of the year when the 49ers travel to Seattle.
