How to handle James Conner’s injury in Week 12 fantasy football

Conner will not play this week, leaving the other Steelers running backs to feast in a game against the Bengals. We break down the fantasy football implications for Week 12.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will not have the services of James Conner this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. The veteran running back aggravated his shoulder injury during last week’s game and brawl against the Browns.

Conner missed Week 9 and 10 with the same injury. The team thought he was good to go last week, and now he will miss a third game with the same bum wing. He managed to carry the ball five times for 10 yards before exiting last week’s game. He did not practice this week either.

The Steelers do have other running backs, and those guys should be licking their chops at the chance to play against the NFL’s worst team.

With Conner out, the Steelers will call on the trio of Jaylen Samuels, Benny Snell, and Trey Edmonds to carry the load. Of the three, Samuels is the one deserving of your fantasy attention. Two weeks ago, against the Rams, he carried the ball 14 times and was targeted seven times in the passing game. He scored a receiving touchdown on one of his five catches in last week’s melee with the Browns. Basically, his presence in the passing game gives him a big leg up on the others. At $7,200 in DK leagues this week, Samuels isn’t exactly cheap, but against the Bengals he should put up some nice numbers.
