The New England Patriots are unlikely to have wide receiver Mohamed Sanu in Week 12 when they host the Dallas Cowboys. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sanu was feeling better on Saturday and there’s a chance he would play. However, NFL Network reporter Jeff Darlington is now reporting Sanu probably won’t play today and might miss next week on the road against the Houston Texans.
Darlington tweeted that the Patriots are going to be conservative with what is described as a high ankle sprain. Considering they are 9-1 and still control their destiny as a potential No. 1 seed, it makes sense to avoid aggravating the injury. And a high ankle sprain usually requires multiple weeks of recovery.
Fantasy football analysis: Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu
On the off-chance Sanu is active vs. the Cowboys, you should not start him. The absolute best case seems to be that he would have a very limited workload, per Ian Rapoport. It’s not worth the roll of the dice for a receiver who is hobbled for the moment.
Where it gets interesting is with rookie N’Keal Harry in his second game of the season. Phillip Dorsett is a question mark as well for today, and if he and Sanu are both out, Harry would likely start and Jakobi Meyers would be the slot receiver. Neither is worth starting this week, but Harry is someone to monitor.
