San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida was doubtful heading into this week vs. the Green Bay Packers, so this status isn’t all that surprising. Breida had missed practice all week and has been dealing with an ankle injury since going down vs. the Seahawks in Week 10. Breida could get back into the lineup next week against the Baltimore Ravens, but for now, the 49ers will be down a RB.
Fantasy football analysis: San Francisco 49ers running backs
The Niners didn’t have a chance to establish much of a run game last week vs. the Arizona Cardinals. Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert were essentially splitting snaps, which hurts both of their value heading into tonight vs. the Packers. The good thing though: Green Bay allows plenty of rushing yards per game (126.9). Head coach Kyle Shanahan should get the ball in Coleman’s hands and let him help control the clock. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk should also be involved in the passing game, so he’d also take some touches away from Coleman and Mostert.
Overall, Coleman is a strong play in all season-long formats. He should see the goal line work and could be in line for double-digit carries in a strong matchup. Mostert isn’t a bad look in deeper leagues as a FLEX, but would obviously carry some risk. Juszczyk would be strictly a PPR play.
