Buffalo Bills running back Frank Gore continue his march to immortality in Week 12 of the 2019 NFL season. Gore has rushed for 49 yards as of this publishing and has moved past Barry Sanders for third on the all-time rushing leaderboard. Gore entered the day with 15,224 yards and needed 46 to pass Sanders.
As of this article, he has 15,273 yards and counting. No. 2 on the rushing leaderboard is Walter Payton with 16,726 yards. Gore needs a little under 1,500 rushing yards to pass Payton. Gore entered the day with 476 yards, putting him on pace for 761 yards. If he maintained that pace, he wouldn’t pass Payton until the 2021 season. Odds are good Gore will retire before then, but he feels like an ageless wonder.
Whether he passes Payton or not, Gore should be headed into the Hall of Fame not too long after he retires. Some argue his first ballot candidacy, but he’s a Hall of Famer one way or another.
