Joe Mixon shows modest life in Week 12 for traditional fantasy leagues, not for DFS

Bengals running back Joe Mixon is showing a little life the past month, but his fantasy football numbers are not mind-blowing. We break down his Week 12 performance and look ahead to Week 13.

The Cincinnati Bengals had a shot to upset the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they came up short in a 16-10 loss. The Bengals offense could not get much of anything going, but Joe Mixon put together a fourth straight decent game. Mixon finished the day with 79 rushing yards, averaging 4.4 yards per carry. He was not targeted in the passing game for the first time this season. He finished with 7.90 DKFP.

Mixon hasn’t come anywhere near the preseason hype after a strong 2018 season. He likely will not surpass 1,000 rushing yards, and his passing game work has been up and down. He’s not an RB1 right now, but he’s put together a decent enough string the past month. It’s not enough to justify regularly starting him in DFS, but there’s some flex value in traditional fantasy leagues.

He gets a couple decent matchups these next two weeks against the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. They are solid enough defenses, but Mixon is worth a flex start in traditional fantasy leagues. Pass on him in DFS contests for the foreseeable future.
