Luka Doncic climbing the NBA MVP odds leaderboard while big names remain at top

Youngster on torrid pace for Mavericks. Giannis, James Harden remain 1-2 to win award on DraftKings Sportsbook.

It’s taken a while, but finally Luka Doncic is getting the respect that he deserves. But still, he’s only got the fourth-best odds on DraftKings Sportsbook to win the 2019-20 NBA MVP award, behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden and LeBron James.

Doncic, in my eyes, has the upper hand on the three players ahead of him, based on recent performance. Doncic is fourth in the league in scoring and second in assists, also boosting the Mavericks to an 11-5 record, good for third in the Western Conference. Sure, James Harden is ahead of Doncic in terms of scoring, and LeBron and the Lakers are ahead in the standings, but those two facts are way less surprising. Doncic is nearly averaging a triple-double per game, almost at 30-10-10 as a stat line, which is insane. If he keeps this up and the Mavericks finish in the top 4 in the West, there’s not way Doncic doesn’t win MVP in my eyes.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 players with the best odds to win NBA MVP on DraftKings Sportsbook:

Giannis Antetokounmpo (+230)
James Harden (+300)
LeBron James (+600)
Luka Doncic (+650)
Anthony Davis (+800)
Nikola Jokic (+2000)
Joel Embiid (+2200)
Kawhi Leonard (+2200)
Paul George (+4000)
Damian Lillard (+5000)
