The New York Giants might find themselves short-handed this weekend when they host the Green Bay Packers. The team announced on Monday that wide receiver Golden Tate has been placed in the concussion protocol. He suffered the concussion on his touchdown with 4:10 left in the fourth quarter.

The protocol requires a player be asymptomatic at rest and again after exertion before they can be cleared for football activities. The team will return to practice on Wednesday, and he will need to get through the protocol and be cleared by Saturday.

Fantasy football analysis: Giants WR Golden Tate

Sterling Shepard returned from his own concussion and led the team with nine targets. He finished with five receptions for 15 yards. Darius Slayton led the team in receiving yards in Week 12, and could be emerging as a favorite target of rookie QB Daniel Jones. All of this is to say, a potential Tate absence opens the door for Slayton and Shepard.

The other question is whether or not Evan Engram will return from his sprained foot. The passing game has been fairly weak of late, and potentially missing both Engram and Tate would create further difficulties for Jones.
