The Arizona Cardinals welcomed running back Chase Edmonds back to practice on Monday as they came out of their Week 12 bye. The Cardinals host the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13, but it’s too early to tell if Edmonds will be able to play this weekend.
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury told the media on Monday that Edmonds looked good in his first practice back, according to beat writer Darren Urban. A hamstring injury is always tricky, so until we see the practice participation reports, it’s safe assuming he won’t play this weekend.
Kingsbury did say there is room for Edmonds to join both Kenyan Drake and David Johnson in the Cardinals backfield.
”Definitely. ... It’s on us as an offensive staff to find different ways to get them involved and get them the football.”
Fantasy football analysis: Cardinals running backs
Kenyan Drake has emerged as the starter in the backfield ahead of Johnson, but it’s notable that DJ is not looking 100 percent in his return from an ankle injury. As the backfield gets healthy, this could get messy for fantasy football owners. Johnson has had the bye week off, so it’s entirely possible we see him get more work this week after ceding ground to Johnson. It’s a difficult situation to sort through as fantasy football playoffs get underway in a couple weeks.
