Best, Worst value QBs in Week 13 daily fantasy football

Baker Mayfield had a big game last week, but should you start him in your Week 13 daily lineup? We break down the best and worst quarterback options based on Week 13 DraftKings salaries.

If you’re a DFS player, you know that a successful lineup has to have a solid combination of big-name star power players that are known commodities with a few high-upside players that provide a little more bang for your buck.

If you pay up for a big name in your daily fantasy lineup, you definitely cannot afford for that player to put up a dud of a game in your lineup.

So here are the quarterbacks that will likely provide some of the best and worst value for Week 13 (Values from DraftKings).

BEST: Sam Darnold (NYJ) - $6,100

The New York Jets face off against lowly Cincinnati Bengals and the NFL’s 5th-worst pass defense. Darnold is coming off the back of a 315 yard performance with two touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders, and there’s no reason to think he can’t have a similar performance against a similarly-ranked defense. The Jets have a solid wide receiver corps and an above-average pass catcher at both tight end and running back, so Darnold should not want for available targets.

WORST: Baker Mayfield (CLE) - $6,200

Baker had an incredible game last week, throwing for 327 yards and three touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins, but don’t expect a similar showing this week against the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers have announced they will be benching quarterback Mason Rudolph, so this looks like a game where the Browns could jump out to an early lead and then lean on the combination of Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb to grind out the clock.

BEST: Jacoby Brissett (IND) - $5,900

Unlike Baker and the Browns, Jacoby Brissett and the Indianapolis Colts could be in for a divisional shootout on Sunday as they host the Tennessee Titans and the NFL’s 3rd-worst pass defense. The Titans have appeared to turn a corner on offense behind the reinvigorated Ryan Tannehill, a week removed from hanging 42 points on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Brissett has his star wide receiver back in TY Hilton and one of the NFL’s best offensive lines, so he could have another big day for a price $1,500 cheaper than the most expensive quarterback available in daily fantasy this week.

WORST: Jimmy Garoppolo (SF) - $5,600

For as much praise the San Francisco 49ers defense is getting this year — and rightfully so — the Baltimore Ravens defense doesn’t get nearly enough credit. The Ravens are ranked 5th-best against opposing quarterbacks, and it’s no secret that the key to the San Francisco offense is in the running game. If the 49ers want to beat the AFC-leading Ravens, it will be on the back of their ground game, not on Garoppolo’s arm.
