Best, Worst value TEs in Week 13 daily fantasy football

If you’re a DFS player, you know that a successful lineup has to have a solid combination of big-name star power players that are known commodities with a few high-upside players that provide a little more bang for your buck.

If you pay up for a big name in your daily fantasy lineup, you definitely cannot afford for that player to put up a dud of a game in your lineup.

So here are the tight ends that will likely provide some of the best and worst value for Week 13 (Values from DraftKings).

BEST: Darren Waller (OAK) - $5,500

The Oakland Raiders offense is playing a surprisingly high level, especially when you factor in that they have been without the player they envision to be their number one wide receiver in Antonio Brown. Every good team has at least one clunker per season, and I’m willing to say last week’s 3-point performance against the New York Jets was that clunker. The Raiders will need to step up against their division rival Kansas City Chiefs as the division is still up for grabs. After losing Hunter Renfrow to broken ribs, it will mean even more targets for Waller in the passing game.

WORST: George Kittle (SF) - $6,100

Kittle had his best performance of the year last week against the Green Bay Packers, going for 129 yards and a touchdown. However, that was against the NFL’s 5th-worst defense against opposing tight ends, and this week the San Francisco 49ers are facing the NFL’s 5th-best. If the 49ers want to beat Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, the best way to do it would be keep Lamar on the sideline. Long, sustained drives are the 49ers’ strong suit, so look for Kittle to be utilized more as a blocker than as a pass-catcher.

BEST: Gerald Everett (LAR) - $4,600

It’s almost comical at this point how terrible the Arizona Cardinals are at defending opposing tight ends. Everett doesn’t have quite the star power and name recognition of the top tier tight ends who have faced Arizona in the past, but you know Sean McVay will scout his opponent and know the best way to take advantage of an opposing defense. For the Cardinals, that means having Everett running routes down the field to attack a subpar linebacking corps.

WORST: Noah Fant (DEN) - $3,700

Noah Fant was an exciting name after his November 3rd game against the Cleveland Browns, when he went for 115 yards and a touchdown. Fant hasn’t matched that production in the two weeks since, and don’t expect that to change this week when the Denver Broncos host the Los Angeles Chargers and the NFL’s 6th-best defense against opposing tight ends. The Broncos have the 5th-worst rush defense, so look for the Broncos to call a heavy dose of Phillip Lindsey and Royce Freeman and not Noah Fant’s number as a pass-catcher.
