UPDATE: Jeff Driskel is not expected to play on Thanksgiving.
Week 13 is here. The fantasy playoffs are near. But have no fear. Don’t shed a tear. Give a big cheer! The rankings are here!
There are a lot of words that rhyme with “here” so be thankful I didn’t just keep on going. Below you will find the quarterback rankings. Last week was a battle between Ryan Tannehill and Lamar Jackson, but Jackson came from behind for a big upset! Jackson gets his toughest matchup of the season against the 49ers, and I dropped him down the rankings. We’ll see how bad a decision that becomes.
Injury/Status Report
Jeff Driskel has a sore hamstring and looks questionable for Thanksgiving. If he can’t go, David Blough would get the start. We’ll either see one million tweets of “David Bluh” or “Game, Blough-ses.”
Matthew Stafford doesn’t look like he’ll go this week and is getting nearer to a season-ending shutdown. Driskel or Blough will take on the Bears on Thursday.
Mason Rudolph has been officially benched for Devlin “Duck” Hodges. Rudolph has been so bad that Hodges is either the same or better for his team’s fantasy future.
Andy Dalton will take back the reins of the winless Bengals, as Ryan Finley heads back to the bench. Dalton is an upgrade over Finley for sure. Sorry to type that out loud, Ryan.
Carson Wentz has a bruised hand, but it appears he’ll be okay for what should be a bounceback game against the Dolphins.
QB Ranking Tiers
Tier 1
Patrick Mahomes is back from the bye and faces a Raiders team he threw for 443 yards and four touchdowns against in Week 2.
Russell Wilson, at home against a scuffling Vikings pass defense, should prove to be giving after Wilson’s down game in Week 12.
Aaron Rodgers hasn’t been a fantasy asset over his last three games, but he gets a great chance to turn things around against the Giants weak pass defense.
Tier 2
Kyler Murray isn’t Lamar Jackson, but he can run the ball well and keeps plays alive and faces a Rams defense that was scorched last week for five touchdowns against Jackson.
Josh Allen is Tier 2 based on his tremendous consistency. It doesn’t always look great, but when the fantasy points are deposited into your final score, you’re usually feeling pretty good.
Sam Darnold makes the second tier with a great matchup with the Bengals and a little consistency of late. Andy Dalton should also help the Bengals offense enough to keep the Jets from shutting things down early.
QB Streamers
Ryan Tannehill probably deserves to be higher after his recent play, but the Colts do tend to limit quarterbacks. But he has looked like a new quarterback this year and gets the benefit of the doubt in tougher matchups for now.
Andy Dalton returns this week and gets a game at home against the Jets, who have allowed some mediocre quarterbacks to put up big numbers lately — Gardner Minshew 279/3, Ryan Fitzpatrick 288/3, Daniel Jones 308/4, Dwayne Haskins 214/2. The Bengals will likely need to throw, and they often do, so Dalton’s upside will be high in a great matchup.
