Delanie Walker placed on IR, Jonnu Smith to start remainder of season

Jonnu Smith formally takes as the Titans starter, but it’s hard to justify starting him in Week 13 or beyond this season.

The Tennessee Titans have officially ended Delanie Walker’s season. The team placed him on injured reserve Wednesday afternoon due to an ankle injury. Walker’s season ends having played in seven games with 21 receptions, 215 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.

Jonnu Smith will start in his place the final five weeks of the season. Smith has 22 receptions for 287 yards and a touchdown. He did not see a single target in Week 12 against the Jaguars, getting one rushing attempt for four yards.

Fantasy football analysis: Titans TE Jonnu Smith

The Titans face a Colts defense that ranks 16th in fantasy points allowed to tight ends. Even facing fairly average defense, it’s hard to justify starting Smith outside of the deepest of leagues. He had a couple solid games in Weeks 7 (64 receiving yards) and 8 (78 yards, one touchdown), but has otherwise been a non-factor. Outside of 16+ team leagues, dynasty leagues, or deeper keeper leagues, there’s little reason to even roster him at this point.
