UPDATE: Lions DT Damon Harrison is inactive, which boosts the value of the Bears running backs.
David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen have been much more inconsistent than hoped when the season started. He’s had five games in double-digit PPR points, with two of those topping 20 fantasy points. And he hasn’t topped six fantasy points in each of his last three games.
Montgomery’s workload has been down a little, but he has still seen 17, 15, and 15 touches in his last three games. Unfortunately, he’s only totaled 113 rushing yards for 2.6 yards per carry against the Lions, Rams, and Giants.
Cohen’s workload has gotten a nice boost of late, as he has 16 receptions on 19 targets over his last three games to go along with 18 rushing attempts. He’s also managed two touchdowns in these previous three games, likely due to his increased usage. Cohen’s workload appears to be the main reason Montgomery’s numbers have taken a hit.
Fantasy football analysis: Chicago Bears RBs David Montgomery, Tarik Cohen
When these teams met last time, Cohen scored a touchdown and totaled 37 yards on seven touches, four of which were receptions. Montgomery had 17 carries for 60 yards and was a disappointment against the Lions awful run defense.
On the season, Detroit allows the second-most fantasy points to running backs along with the second most touchdowns. This should be a good matchup for both Montgomery and Cohen, especially now that Cohen sees more work. Montgomery’s workload is still good enough to put up fantasy numbers in this matchup despite his recent trouble. Neither is a smash play in this smash spot, but they should be able to find their way onto your team for Thanksgiving.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Montgomery and Cohen.
