How to handle Julio Jones injury in Week 13 fantasy football

Falcons WR Julio Jones is questionable for Week 13 with a shoulder injury. We break down the fantasy football implications heading into Thanksgiving, and how to handle the situation.

The Atlanta Falcons host the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving night in a fun close to the holiday. The Falcons stink and the Saints are going to win the NFC South, but it is still a good ol’ fashioned rivalry game. And considering the Falcons stunned the Saints in New Orleans three weeks ago, both teams should be fired up for this one.

Unfortunately, Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is banged up heading into Thursday. He sat out all three days of practice and is listed as questionable due to a shoulder injury. He is a game-time decision.

Jones hurt his shoulder last Sunday in the first half against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He did not come out with the team for the start of the third quarter, but did return and finish out the game. Calvin Ridley led the team with 85 receiving yards on six catches, while Russell Gage had eight receptions for 76 yards.

Fantasy football analysis: Falcons WR Julio Jones

Odds seem decent that Jones plays on Thursday, but the short week could complicate it. If he plays, you’ve got to start him this week. The Saints defense is solid, but has been just shaky enough that Jones could be in line for a solid game.

With only two games prior to the Saints-Falcons game, you should be able to wait until those inactives for your lineup decision. If for whatever reason all your other receivers are playing earlier, then I think you roll the dice on Jones playing. If you need to roll the dice, Gage is worth adding in case Jones does not play. Ridley is likely rostered in your league, but Gage should be available.
